When We Truly Met
I don't know what I did
to lose you
To have you crumble away piece
by piece until now
I sit here among the memories
with none of you
I wish to go back to the moment
were we stood together,
alone
in a room full of others
No expectations or beliefs
no yesterdays or tomorrows,
just us
I want to go back to our song
where I had all of you
Not just the highlight reel you love
to pull out to show others
I would sell every breath I have left
to go back to the night you took mine away
Where we clumsily twirled among the crowd,
two brushes on a canvas
creating a work never to be matched
I would tear the cosmos apart
to go back to your bed holding you
and your gaze long after our movie expired
Sitting in a torturing silence comfortable
with you
I no longer have all or
even most of you
But I would die for a chance
to have a piece of you back
To go with these memories
